Simon Rogan takes over Lake District pub

Lake District TV chef Simon Rogan has recently expanded his restaurant business in Cartmel, Cumbria, by taking over the local pub.

Simon’s most famous for appearing in the BBC series Great British Menu and already has one Michelin-starred restaurant in the Lake District: L'Eclume. The pub he’s taken over, The Pig and Whistle, has been his local watering hole for a number of years now and he’s hoping to restore it to its former glory.

He’s hoping that his years of experience in the hospitality business and background in the local area will translate into a great new dining experience for both locals and those visiting the area.

If you fancy popping on down, the pub opened on 12 October 2012; it should make for a fantastic culinary experience for anyone enjoying one of our walking or activity holidays in the local area, whilst staying at our Country House in nearby Conistonwater.
