The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year is a great time to join our Great Glen Way holiday. As well as being a year for royal celebrations across the UK, 2012 also marks the 10th anniversary of the Great Glen Way. This 79 mile route from Fort William to Inverness was officially opened by H.R.H. Prince Andrew, who also holds the title Earl of Inverness, on 30 April 2002.
This is a momentous milestone for this wonderful long-distance route, which often receives less media coverage than its older brother, the West Highland Way. The reasons for its popularity are easy to see – fantastic Highland scenery, tranquil shores and the iconic Loch Ness. In addition to the outstanding views, this low-lying route suits a range of walking abilities and provides a great introduction to trail walking. Last but not least it gives you the perfect opportunity to spot the glen’s most famous resident – the Loch Ness Monster!
