Derbyshire MP discusses local tourism at Peveril of the Peak

MP Patrick McLoughlin meets Steve and Hazel Hunt Derbyshire tourism and local employment was at the top of the agenda when Derbyshire Dales MP Patrick McLoughlin met with Steve and Hazel Hunt, the Peveril of the Peak House Managers, and Laura Sims, HF Holidays’ Head of Marketing and Development, on Thursday 26 July.

For over 20 years we have been taking holiday makers to the Peak District on walking and leisure activity holidays, formerly at Newton House and now at Peveril of the Peak.

Since taking over at Peveril of the Peak in March, we have invested significantly into the improvements of the guest accommodation.

Mr McLoughlin was interested in the number of locals we have employed in the area, the high level of local produce being bought and the supportive involvement in the local community.

Following the visit, Patrick McLoughlin commented “I’m heartened to see the investment that has been made in this renown hotel. Progress since March 2012 is good and more is planned. It’s good to see the diversity the organisation offers and their support for the local economy.”

Laura Sims added, “It was very good to meet with Patrick and exchange ideas about how we can help to boost tourism in the region and offer further support to our local community here.“
