Camino Charity Walk

Camino de Santiago cathedral Congratulations are due to American student Cooper Barrick who has walked the complete Camino de Santiago to raise money for charity.

The Camino, or Way of Saint James, begins in the French town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, crosses northwest Spain and finishes at the beautiful cathedral at Santiago de Compostela, and has been a pilgrimage route for over 1,000 years.

More recently it featured in the Hollywood film The Way, starring Martin Sheen and his son Emilio Estevez, which has raised awareness of this ancient trail.

One of our most popular walking holidays in Spain covers the final section of the trail from Sarria, a total of 70 miles covered in 6 days. It was voted ‘best overseas trail’ by our guests in 2011. The route passes through the undulating countryside of the Sierra de Ligonde with panoramic views, then follows river valleys and wooded glades before the first glimpse of the city of Santiago de Compostela from the summit of Monte del Gozo. There is also an extra day to fully explore this iconic city once you have been rewarded with your Compostela certificate from the cathedral.

The holiday is led by an experienced local guide with accommodation in comfortable small hotels and guesthouses along the route.
