Bridge experience at Malhamdale

Bridge holidays
One of our leaders, Titch Glenday, has kindly shared her account of leading Bridge & Walking and Bridge & Sightseeing Holidays at Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales.

"After our guests arrived and checked into their comfortable rooms, both first time guests and regular guests were welcomed with a hearty afternoon tea. During which time leaders shared the itinerary and other useful information. Guests then settled down for a welcome session of bridge. We then discovered it was some guests' 43rd holiday with HF Holidays. Such loyalty!

For dinner, all tables were set to seat a minimum of 10 guests, so the sociable afternoon continued into the evening with interesting conversation.

EBU logo Some regular visitors did voice concern that HF Holidays has joined the English Bridge Union and was now issuing Master Points. Over the week they realised that this has made no difference to the quality and socialability of the holiday. Our guests still had a great time and all got on brilliantly, there was always a friendly atmosphere and point collectors benefitted from the system without changing the HF Holidays ambience. We played pre-dealt boards, which meant guests could take a copy of the hands to the bar with them after the game and analyse the game.

Some guests walked every day while others alternated between bridge seminars and sightseeing trips. All guest congregated in the evenings for the bridge.

The chefs were praised by the guests especially the variety, the presentation and the taste of the food all of which were all excellent.

There are so many places to go and things to see near Malhamdale. It is a very popular destination – a visit will show guests why it is a big favourite."
