Literary fans staying in the Southern Yorkshire Dales are in for a treat at the end of this September as the brilliant Ilkley Literature Festival is taking place.
The festival kicks off on 28 September and runs through to 14 October. It’s set to feature a wide range of activities, with visitors able to enjoy readings, performances, workshops, author talks, literary walks, poetry and great comedy. The event will feature a number of familiar faces too, with talks from the likes of Simon Armitage, Chris Mullin and Paddy Ashdown.
A visit to the festival also gives you the ideal opportunity to explore the Pennine Uplands and Watershed, and to see the recently finished Stanza Stones – large stones carved with poetry inspired by the local landscapes.
The event really is a brilliant chance to delve into the north’s literary culture and it’s conveniently located for anyone staying in our properties in the area, such as Newfield Hall. If you want to explore the region at other times in the year, we also offer a number of fantastic activity holidays in the area.
