 |
Day 1: arrive in Perugia, the capital city of Umbria. Transfer from S Egidio airport, or metro ride from Perugia train station. Dine at your city centre hotel.
Day 2: Transfer from Perugia to the start of the trail. Today’s trail crosses rolling hills and thick woods with an amazing arrival and breath taking view of Assisi.
Day 3: free day in Assisi or a short circular walk to one of Saint Francis' retreats, the Eremo delle Carceri.
Day 4: Today’s trail cuts through the Subasio park and unfolds among olive groves to reach Spello, a lovely village with cobbled streets and peaceful piazzas.
Day 5: A circular walking loop visiting the Subasio mountain and the stunning hamlet of Collepino.
Day 6: A short transfer from Spello to Collemancio to start a spectacular walk to Bevegna, visiting the genuine rustic cellar of the Dionigi family (Sagrantino di Montefalco producer).
Day 7: A loop in the heart if the best wine area in Umbria. After visiting Bevagna, the walk passes Montefalco where you can sample wine at one of the best wineries in the area, before returning to Bevagna.
Day 8: Departure day. Transfer by taxi to Foligno railway station, from where there are direct trains to Rome or Florence.
