The following is a suggested programme, but your HF Holidays' leader may adjust it at their discretion, according to the wishes of the group and other factors such as weather and local opening times. There is clearly no obligation to join in any activity, and you should feel free to spend the time as you wish.
Day 1: arrival day – transfer to your hotel in the centre of Seville.
Day 2: our exploration of Seville starts with a visit to the huge cathedral that dominates the centre of the old town. A climb to the top of the famous Giralda bell tower will reward you with a superb panoramic view. After a leisurely walk through the narrow streets of the Arenal district, and beside the Guadalquiver River, we can enjoy the Museo de Belles Artes with its remarkable collection of Spanish paintings and sculptures.
Day 3: take the high-speed train to the stunning city of Cordoba (45mins). The star attraction here is the remarkable Mezquita, once the city’s great mosque which was partly re-built as a Christian cathedral in the 16th century. We’ll also wander around the narrow streets of the Jewish Quarter, perhaps enjoying lunch in one of the many tapas bars, before visiting the fortified palace of the Alcázar de los Reyes Christianos.
Day 4: no visit to Seville would be complete without seeing the Reales Alcázares. This exquisite Moorish palace, with its beautiful carvings, richly-decorated courtyards and extensive gardens is a real delight. Later we’ll wander amongst the pavilions and gardens of the Parque María Luisa, the site of the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition. The centrepiece is the Plaza de Espana, a grand statement of Andalucian pride.
Day 5: time for final sightseeing or shopping before the journey home.
