190 miles. 9-17 miles per day with one day of 21 miles. Daily ascents of between 1,000ft and 2,400ft. |
Day 1: arrival day.
Day
2: from the beach at St Bees we head towards the Lake District.
Day
3: stunning views of Great Gable as we walk beside Ennerdale Water to Honister Pass and Borrowdale.
Day
4: a beautiful Lake District walk to Wordsworth’s Grasmere.
Day
5: through the Helvellyn range to Patterdale.
Day
6: ascend Kidsty Pike and then along the shores of Haweswater to Shap.
Day 7: through the outlying Cumbrian Fells to Kirkby Stephen.
Day 8: over the main Pennine watershed and on to Keld.
Day
9: on through the Yorkshire Dales National Park to Reeth.
Day
10: along the attractive valley of Swaledale to historic Richmond.
Day
11: across the pastoral Vale of York.
Day
12: enter the North York Moors, the third national park of our journey.
Day
13: along the moors escarpment to Blakey.
Day
14: across the heather-clad moors to Grosmont.
Day
15: a memorable last day to the North Sea cliffs and the beach at Robin Hood’s Bay.
