Itinerary - Complete Trail

190 miles. 9-17 miles per day with one day of 21 miles. Daily ascents of between 1,000ft and 2,400ft.

Day 1: arrival day.
Day 2: from the beach at St Bees we head towards the Lake District.
Day 3: stunning views of Great Gable as we walk beside Ennerdale Water to Honister Pass and Borrowdale.
Day 4: a beautiful Lake District walk to Wordsworth’s Grasmere.
Day 5: through the Helvellyn range to Patterdale.
Day 6: ascend Kidsty Pike and then along the shores of Haweswater to Shap.
Day 7: through the outlying Cumbrian Fells to Kirkby Stephen.
Day 8: over the main Pennine watershed and on to Keld.
Day 9: on through the Yorkshire Dales National Park to Reeth.
Day 10: along the attractive valley of Swaledale to historic Richmond.
Day 11: across the pastoral Vale of York.
Day 12: enter the North York Moors, the third national park of our journey.
Day 13: along the moors escarpment to Blakey.
Day 14: across the heather-clad moors to Grosmont.
Day 15: a memorable last day to the North Sea cliffs and the beach at Robin Hood’s Bay.

Itinerary - West Trail

95 miles. 9-14 miles and 1,200ft-2,300ft of ascent in a day.

Day 1: arrival day.
Day 2: from the Irish Sea to Ennerdale Bridge.
Day 3: over Honister Pass to Borrowdale.
Day 4: to Wordsworth’s village of Grasmere.
Day 5: stunning mountain landscapes abound en route to Patterdale.
Day 6: over High Street to Haweswater.
Day 7: farewell to the Lake District.
Day 8: over Smardale Fell to Kirkby Stephen.
Day 9: cross the Pennine watershed.
Day 10: departure day.

95 miles. 9-16 miles and 350ft-1,800ft of ascent in a day.

Day 1: arrival day.
Day 2: walk to the pretty village of Reeth.
Day 3: along the River Swale to historic Richmond.
Day 4: across the Vale of Mowbray.
Day 5: enter the North York Moors National Park.
Day 6: wonderful views as we walk to Clay Bank Top.
Day 7: follow the ancient highway of Glaisdale.
Day 8: discover the lovely village of Egton Bridge.
Day 9: the final leg to the beach at Robin Hood’s Bay.
Day 10: departure day.
