The peaceful River Esk flows from the heart of the North York Moors to its mouth at Whitby. Never straying far from the valley, this enjoyable circular trail samples riverside paths and sections of the surrounding moorland on a week of great walking and superb scenery. |

| Itinerary |

82 miles. 12-15 miles (18 miles on the last day which can be shortened) and up to 2,800ft of ascent in a day. |
Day 1: arrival day.
Day 2: walk along the Esk from Larpool Hall, before ascending through the woods to the attractive Heartbeat village of Goathland.
Day 3: follow part of the Lyke Wake Walk and moorland trails to Egton Bridge.
Day 4: over the high moors to Blakey Ridge.
Day 5: walk along the disused ironstone tramway around the skyline of Farndale and then descend to the River Esk at Kildale.
Day 6: follow the river downstream to Commondale and Danby.
Day 7: a grand final day takes us along the Esk Valley, past the villages of Glaisdale, Egton Bridge and Ruswarp, to the end of the walk at Whitby Harbour.
Day 8: departure day.
