51 miles. 8-13 miles and up to 1,800ft of ascent in a day. |
Day 1: arrival day.
Day 2: from Ovacik, the starting point of the Lycian Way, Baba Dag (Father Mountain) provides a stunning backdrop to our route, as we walk beneath this towering mountain to experience the vivid seascapes that expand before us.
Day 3: we follow a path along the mountainside to the famous beach of Butterfly Valley. Surrounded by magnificent cliffs several hundred metres high, this beautiful location is perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
Day 4: today’s walk from Kabak is through olive groves and pine trees, passing Karakartal (Black Eagle spring), on our way to visit the fascinating ruins of the ancient city of Sidyma.
Day 5: free day. Watch the world go by at one of the waterfront cafes at Kalkan, or visit the ancient city of Xanthos, Lycia’s most visited site.
Day 6: from Bel and the hills, we descend towards the sea, taking a short path to a small deserted beach before rounding the headland towards Pydnai.
Day 7: leaving the ancient city of Patara, we see a saddle back tomb and various temple tombs before following a Roman road uphill through peaceful pine forests. Our final leg of the journey follows the line of the aqueduct, enjoying stunning sea views all the way to Akbel.
Day 8: departure day.
