Challenge is a very subjective word, but there’s no doubt you’ll need to be fit to sign up to most of these new holidays.
For some, challenge is about ambition and at the ‘easiest end’ of these walks we’ll patiently take you the shortest way up Snowdon. For others, it’s about collecting; at the ‘harder end’ we’ll move more quickly to attempt all 15 Welsh mountains in Snowdonia (13,000 ft of ascent over 30 miles).
Or how about the buzz of completing the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks in one go, where there are usually plenty of others out trying to do the same.
And you can challenge anyone who tells you the South is soft after hiking the serious up and downs of the fabulous 20 miles from Seven Sisters to Lewes on the South Downs, before rebooting for more of the same the next day.
Some weekends pack in the most daylight hours available with hiking at a no-nonsense pace. Others tick the challenge box on one day and have a warm up or warm down local walk on the other.
