Guided Walking, specially designed for the season
When summer ends and the clocks fall back, something exciting happens in the British countryside. While the tourists head home, those in the know understand that some of the very best days of the outdoor calendar are just around the corner. Whether it's the crisp air, clear, far-sighted views or wildlife spectacles from swirling murmurations of starlings to flocks of migrating pink-footed geese that lure you outdoors, you'll discover that the countryside takes on a magical quality in winter. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, see silhouettes of skeleton trees, keep eyes peeled for hunting foxes and inhale the smell of woodsmoke - there's nothing like a winter walk.
The guided walking routes we have selected for the shoulder seasons are carefully chosen and adapted for winter or spring. With routes based at cosy-log-fire-warmed country houses, you can still explore. And while winter walking can present some challenges, we have the experience to ensure that you are looked after. Routes are tailored to the available daylight and led by an experienced guide. The going is on stable ground and there's a flask of soup on the route and cosy pint or cuppa at the end. The UK's incredible network of footpaths doesn't close for the season and with us you'll find it's a wonderful time for walking.
