The Peveril of the Peak, named after Sir Walter Scott’s novel, is set in extensive grounds in the village of Thorpe. This quaint Country House is less than a mile from the famous stepping stones at the entrance to Derbyshire’s Dovedale gorge – perfect for all levels of adventure seekers!
Here you can enjoy views of the wonderfully traditional English countryside from many of our public rooms and 46, ensuite, bedrooms.

Walking at Dovedale
Discover the heart of England with riverside strolls and walks among scenic valleys and the famous rock spires of Dove Dale. Our guided walks, and experienced leaders, will treat you to new experiences.
If you prefer more independence, our Discovery Point is jam-packed with maps and detailed walks to allow you to plan your self-guided walks. Plus you’re never truly on your own, our experienced and friendly leaders are available for questions in the bar each evening, with fellow walkers, for ideas and inspiration.
