Longmynd House Lodges

Hidden in plain sight, there’s a well-kept countryside secret in the heart of England that might just surprise you with its wonderful upland walking, trails, history and heritage. Discover the heart of Shropshire from the lodges within the grounds of Longmynd House, stood on a wooded hillside above Church Stretton, on the border of England and Wales. Use these self-catering bases to gear up for a great day in the hills on walks full of rich variety. Stride out on the Long Mynd itself, a dramatic, isolated whaleback hill with an expanse of heather wilderness and deeply cut valleys, explore the Stiperstones and climb to the Iron Age fort on top of Caer Caradoc, or surround yourself with historic castles, market towns and trails of all kinds.

These are delightful one and two bed lodges in a picturesque location, within walking distance of the Long Mynd and some of Shropshire’s most attractive hills. Set within the grounds of Longmynd House, these red brick bungalows offer great accommodation, with off road parking and a small deck area, for people looking to explore this beautiful part of the country.

The front door of the lodge enters into a lovely open plan large lounge, dining room and kitchen. Comfortable soft furnishings make this the ideal place to sink into after a day exploring. In the lounge there’s a flat screen TV and DVD player for relaxing in front of. This light space is further improved when the sliding doors are opened onto the small, private wooden deck that overlooks the gardens and woods of Longmynd House; sit out here at the end of the day, or stroll the woodland trail in the grounds that picks its way between animal sculptures.

The kitchen is well-equipped with a cooker, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is an under-counter fridge and freezer box to store food. Cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware are provided, and there is a dining table and chairs to eat around. Lodge 2 has a washing machine. Lodges 4, 5, 6 and 8 have a dishwasher.

Off the hallway are comfortable bedrooms. Lodges 2, 4 and 6 have a good-sized double bed. Lodge 5 can be converted from a double to a twin room as needed. Lodge 8 is the largest property, with two bedrooms; one with a double bed, one with twin beds. Each lodge has a clean, bright bathroom, with shower fitted above the bath. All bed linen and towels are provided.

Off-road parking is available in front of the lodges. There is free Wi-Fi throughout.
