Bike and Boat - Provence, Aigues Mortes to Avignon
Code: CYC28Print page
A lovely tour through typical Provencal landscapes, where you will discover the impressive historical sights of this region as well as the wonderful, wild Camargue.
After arriving in Aigues-Mortes and joining your barge, you spend the day cycling along small country lanes, discovering the wildlife of the Camargue.
From here we take in the historical towns of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer with its cathedral, and Arles, famous for its Roman heritage.
Features explored include the hill top village of Les-Baux-de- Provence and the well preserved Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. All the while you'll cycle amongst a landscape of limestone cliffs, lavender and olive trees before reaching Avignon. Your final day of riding is a treat for the taste buds as you enjoy a circular route through vineyards to the celebrated Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
Discover beautiful places on two wheels with HF Holidays and Saddle Skedaddle.
Your accommodation for the week is on a specially designed boat. During the day, a local leader will be leading the way, however route descriptions are provided if you'd prefer to cycle independently from the group.
This tour is run in conjunction with a local partner and you will join their guests on the tour. You will spend your evenings sharing experiences of the day with an international group of cyclists over authentic regional cuisine, cooked and served on board the barge. Please get in touch if you'd like to know the make up of the group booked onto your chosen departure.
