Our holidays at the Hotel Beranek are on a bed and breakfast basis.
The hotel offers a continental buffet breakfast served in the restaurant.
In the evenings enjoy group dining at carefully selected restaurants or dine independently if you prefer. Your leader will be happy to offer suggestions and advice.
|Lunch (payable locally)
Lunches can be bought during the day in local cafés or shops - or you may prefer to make up a small packed lunch. Your leader will advise you of the options each day.
Enjoy a glass of wine or local beer before a leisurely meal, either independently or with your fellow guests.
Your leader will also be checking out for any local events.
Each day our experienced leader will lead you on a sightseeing walk of Prague, exploring the different areas of the city. Although you should expect to spend most of the day sightseeing by foot, the metro and tram network will also be used during the programme.
Highlights of the sightseeing programme include:
Old Town Square: The focal point of the Old Town is made up of attractive Romanesque and Gothic buildings and known for its Astronomical Clock.
Charles Bridge: Prague’s picture-postcard image, this Gothic bridge was built to connect the Old Town with the palace and offers great views over the Prague skyline.
Little Quarter: Clustered around the base of the palace complex, the Little Quarter is a quaint area of old burgher streets and cobbled lanes and at the centre, the baroque St Nicholas church.
Jewish Quarter: One of the most atmospheric areas of the city dating back to the 12th century. Today, the oldest synagogue in Europe and a Jewish cemetery from the 15th century remains.
Royal Palace: More like a walled town than a castle, this expansive complex includes a cathedral, palace, a cobbled street lined with old cottages and craft shops, gardens and museums.
Every effort is made to adhere to this itinerary, however there may be circumstances beyond our control which could lead to a change in the programme.
Admission fees: Admission fees are not included in the cost of the holiday. As a general guide, you should allow around 1750kc (approx £60), although reductions on admission costs are often available for students and senior citizens.
Local transport: During this City Break the sightseeing programme will involve the use of the metro and tram network. Local travel expenses are not included. Your leader will advise you on the best travel cards to purchase. Please allow up to €65 for a local Prague Card.
In the evenings: This holiday is sold on a Bed and Breakfast basis. However, your leader will make arrangements at local restaurants should members of the group wish to eat together. You will find that most guests enjoy dining together but the choice is yours. If you do choose to dine independently, your leader will be happy to offer suggestions and advice.

Mike Craze is a professional Blue Badge Guide based in Hampshire who has been guiding for 12 years and enjoys combining the facts and stats with a bit of fun and trivia as well. A keen historian and member of a local archaeology group, he likes nothing better than researching new places and learning about their ‘hidden secrets’ and telling their story. ‘History fascinates me. It’s like pulling at a thread that never stops unravelling.’ He is quick to acknowledge though that “sometimes it’s just about relaxing. Sharing a breathtaking piece of landscape or soaking up the atmosphere of a beautiful garden or mediaeval cobbled street is a great way to relax on holiday”. After working on and off in Slovakia for a couple of years Mike has developed a real interest in both the Czech & Slovak cultures and histories and is looking forward to sharing his enthusiasm with his guests in Prague.
