The laid-back charm of this Mediterranean island is a perfect setting for a Pilates holiday. Enjoy Pilates sessions every morning and a further optional late afternoon session, leaving the rest of the day free to explore the local area including the historic town of Paphos.
We include this sightseeing day (admission costs as well as a meze lunch) in your holiday:
Today we’ll all travel along the most scenic stretch of coastline on the island, where we stop to see Ancient Curium. Here we’ll discover the infamous House of Eustolios, which proudly boasts its intricate mosaics and magnificent amphitheatre overlooking the sea. We will then drive through beautiful mountain areas to reach the charming village of Omodhos, built around one of the oldest monasteries in Cyprus, the Holy Cross. This is also one of the best wine producing villages where traditional white stone buildings line the narrow cobbled streets.
We visit the old wine press of the village and then enjoy a traditional meze lunch. On our way back we will stop at the island’s most famous landmark, Aphrodite’s rock, the legendary birthplace of the goddess of love.
Relax in the hotel using their facilities, or independently visit local places of interest. You can discuss other options for your free day with your holiday leader. There are no planned Pilates sessions on this day.
What to bring
No special clothing is required for your Pilates holiday, but it is recommended that you wear loose-fitting clothes to facilitate easy movement. Please bring your Pilates mat and a small towel. Please note, a non-slip yoga mat is not suitable.
Cyprus has always been fought over, from the Phoenicians, Egyptians, Romans, Venetians, Ottoman Empire to the Arabians during the Crusades, the British and the civil struggles with Greeks and Turkish. Its easy to see why, throughout history, this Mediterranean gem has been so sought after. Modern day Cyprus is no different and the island is a popular holiday destination. It offers visitors an ancient history to marvel and explore with the Greco-Roman sites on the island, one of the largest within walking distance of our hotel.
Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and dominated by a vast mountain range, The Troodos Massif. The diversity of the flora and fauna is amazing; the best time to see this is early Spring when we visit the island and again in Autumn.
Paphos and Nea Paphos
Paphos has an interesting history, dating back to Neolithic times, the current city of Paphos was not a particularly important centre until the 1970s, when tourism flourished in the area. Until this time, the city was in decline, as the Capital City, Nicosia, grew in importance on the island. Paphos airport is now the second largest on the island, and the city became the European Capital of Culture in 2017.
You can enjoy the beach of Paphos in the sun or hire bikes from the tour office to see the sites in the city.
On the fringe of Paphos is the ancient city of Nea Paphos (New Paphos) is steeped in mythology, with strong ancient links to the Greek goddesses Aphrodite and Artemis, the city was built next to a natural harbor. Nowadays, the site is open to visitors, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This archaeological site boasts outstanding archaeological park features extensive Greco-Roman ruins and incredibly well-preserved mosaics depicting ancient mythology.

Molly is a qualified and experienced Yoga and Pilates teacher with her own studio based in Cardiff. She holds a BA Hons degree in Human Movement. She teaches Hatha yoga to include physical postures, breathwork, relaxation and visualisation and meditation exercises. Her Pilates classes focus on the original exercises since she was trained individually before any of the big Pilates schools were formed. Molly is very passionate about the human body; what it can do and seeking out its limits.
Hatha yoga is not suitable for those with disabilities although spine and other joint problems can be catered for.
She was very knowledgeable about her subject and was very good at getting us to do the exercises and showing us how we could do them better using her techniques of energy lines and points. She listened to questions and comments and incorporated them into her sessions very well.
