AGM 2017 highlights
On Saturday 25 March 2017, we welcomed over 200 members to The Dome in Buxton for our 104th Annual General Meeting. Members present were able to use their right to approve Rule changes, receive responses to their questions directly from the Board of Directors and Management Team, discover some of the detail behind the figures published in the Annual Report & Accounts 2016, and be the first to learn the results of the election to the Board of Directors.
The formal account of the Meeting is in preparation and will become available alongside the Agenda for the next AGM. In the meantime, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like us to email you a copy once they are ready.
During the Meeting, members were asked to approve the Minutes of the AGM held in 2016. An errata had been provided to members present to include comments on the Annual Report & Accounts for 2015 which had been omitted from the Minutes. After discussion the Minutes of the 2016 AGM were approved subject to the errata and any amendments to it following comments from the floor.
Our guest speaker was Fiona Howie, Chief Executive of Campaign for National Parks (CNP). Fiona gave us a great insight into the work of the CNP explaining that it is an umbrella organisation focussed on securing National Parks for the nation. In National Parks that are close to our own hearts, we learned that the CNP had recently been involved in getting an extension of the Yorkshire Dales by 24% and a small extension to the Lake District.
We were delighted to be joined on the day by partnership colleagues from Cotswold Outdoors and Paramo. The Family Holidays Association was featured on our very own Pathways Fund stand.
The annual interest rate was confirmed at 1.5% for all qualifying shares held at 31 October 2016. Annual statements of interest will be available at the end of June, simply email email@example.com if you would like us to email you a statement in the meantime.
In the weeks before the Meeting, members were invited to vote for those standing as candidates for the Board of Directors. There were four vacancies, the fourth one as a result of a mid-term resignation from Nick Frankgate meaning that the candidate polling the fourth highest number of votes would serve a term of two years Those elected were:
Steve Bishop (far left), Wendy Sudbury (middle left), Cheryl Hunnisett (middle right) and Stephen Swift (far right).
Thanks were given to the outgoing Board Directors:
Bob Gomersall (left), Alan Dixon (centre) and Malcolm Oliver (right)
