The Seefeld Plateau is summer full of adventure. Watch our new aerial footage of the Austrian Alps, shot by HF Walk Leader Dave Weatherley, and discover where you could be exploring as part of a guided walking holiday on the Seefeld Plateau with HF Holidays.
Pair the landscapes of the Tyrol's largest high plateau with some traditional Alpine hospitality. On a sun-drenched, south-facing plateau, at an altitude of 1,200 metres above sea level, you'll discover a walking area steeped in tradition. Seefeld sits high up, ringed by the fearsome limestone peaks of the Karwendel Nature Park (known as the Seefeld Dolomites), the Wildmoos nature protection area, the majestic Wetterstein massif and the bulk of Hohe Munde. Most Tyrolean resorts are crazy about skiing. But when the snow has gone, the locals lace up their boots and hit the hundreds of kilometres of well-maintained walking trails that crisscross the plateau.
Follow in their tracks to enjoy easy walks in the tranquil surroundings of the Leutasch Valley where you'll find flower-filled meadows under steepling peaks. Dense Alpine forests give on to sparse larch groves and wide grasslands. Hike through the Leutasch Gorge to tiptoe into Bavaria and take the chance to inch along an 800m metal walkway suspended high above the gorge for thrilling views. Strolls in the mountains will lead you to high huts, where doughty folk serve delicious strudel and kaiserschmarren (sugared pancakes) to keep you fuelled, while the Moserersee provides the perfect spot for a quick dip in an Alpine tarn. Der burg ruft - the mountain calls!
