We are over the moon to announce that our very own Derwent Bank Hotel in the Lake District has been awarded a Silver level from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS).
The GTBS is the leading sustainable tourism certification scheme in the UK. A qualified assessor for Green Tourism undertook an accreditation grading visit at Derwent Bank in November; here are their notes on the assessment
“HF Holidays Derwent Bank has done well to gain a Silver award during the first assessment through the Green Tourism programme. There are a number of excellent practices on site such as the range of local produce used within the restaurant and the display of such in the form of a food map for guests. An extensive LED roll out programme is in progress within the property which is great and there have been investigation into biomass for the property. It is always great to hear about future projects that relate to a business’s green journey. The beehives and promotion of them for guests is also great on site. Overall a very good first assessment.”
