All our carefully-curated itineraries are designed by our experts. While we make every effort to adhere to the described itinerary, we may take alternative routes or adapt the running order for weather and/or operational reasons.
Arrive at the hotel and check in. Unpack and settle in.
Our first walk takes us in the direction of the Vigo mountain hut – a classic route in the Madonna di Campiglio area. Rising to an altitude of 1,900m we’ll find the pine-fringed waters of Lago Delle Malghette, a stunning lake surrounded by the Folgarida Mountains. Rumour has it that this secluded lakeside location was the favourite spot of renowned 19th-century globetrotter, Empress Elizabeth of Austria. On a clear day, look out for the rocky massif of the Brenta Dolomites reflected in the lake’s shimmering surface.
Option 1 - Malghette Lake
Distance: 5 miles (8km)
Total ascent: 1475ft (450m)
From Campo Carlo Magno we hike in the direction of the Vigo mountain hut for great views across Lago Delle Malghette and the Brenta Dolomites.
Option 2 - Malghette Mountain Lake
Distance: 7 miles (11km)
Total ascent: 2300ft (700m)
Also departing from Campo Carlo Magno, we hike in the direction of the Vigo mountain hut on a higher route for even better views over Lago Delle Malghette and the Brenta Dolomites.
Today we’ll take the shuttle bus to Carisolo and embark on a hike through the Val di Genova – a fertile gorge where torrents of cascading water tumbling down the limestone walls have earned it the moniker, Valley of the Waterfalls. This area was part of Austria until World War I and numerous military operations took place on the crystalline rock formations, evidence of which is still visible from the valley bottom. Take in magnificent views of the Adamello and Presanella glaciers as we follow the course of the Sarca River.
Option 1 - Val di Genova Gorge
Distance: 5 miles (8km)
Total ascent: 1000ft (300m)
Starting from Val di Genova we walk through a stunning gorge surrounded by waterfalls.
Option 2 - Sarca River to Pinzolo
Distance: 7½ miles (12km)
Total ascent: 1300ft (400m)
A walk through the gorge to the Nardis Waterfalls and then onto the Sarca River. We’ll finish in Pinzolo where there are incredible panoramas of the Presanella glacier.
Departing directly from the hotel, we’ll spend the day exploring the foothills of the Brenta Dolomites. Pick your way between pinnacles and be wowed by a landscape of woods, streams, and waterfalls, thriving with wildlife. Upon reaching Groste, we’ll take a cable car into the highlands and visit the Frances Fox Tucket mountain hut – named after the intrepid mountaineer from Gloucestershire who, in 1865, was knighted by the King of Italy for his services to geographical and scientific research in the Italian alps. The highlight of the day is the stepped cascades of Vallesinella Waterfalls.
Option 1 - Vallesinella Waterfalls
Distance: 5 miles (8km)
Total ascent: 650ft (200m)
Hike to the Vallesinella Waterfalls and to the Tucket refuge on one of the most famous walks in the Brenta Dolomites. We take the cable car to Groste and then visit a selection of other mountain huts before returning via public bus.
Option 2 - Vallesinella Waterfalls to Madonna di Campiglio
Distance: 7 miles (11km)
Total ascent: 650ft (200m)
Total descent: 2600ft (800m)
This walk follows the same route as option 1 but lengthens the journey by hiking back to Madonna di Campiglio.
Each week there is a free day when no guided walks are offered. This is an ideal opportunity to relax around the hotel, walk independently, or visit local places of interest.
There are plenty of self-guided walks in the Brenta Dolomites and your leaders will be happy to recommend options if you would like to explore independently on your free day. Take a cable car to one of the mountain refuges for lunch* with a view or stay local and discover what Madonna di Campiglio has to offer.
Alternatively, spend the day enjoying the facilities of the hotel. There’s a wellness center with an indoor pool, sauna, and hot tub, as well as a spa* offering massages and beauty treatments.

Our destination for the day is Madonna di Campiglio’s breathtaking Cinque Laghi (Five Lakes) region. Both walks will take us to several stunning lakes including Lago Ritorto, Lago Lambin, Lago Serdoli, and Lago Gelato as we make our way toward the mountain refuge at the foot of the Passo Nambrone. Option 1 shortens the route slightly by taking the Cinque Laghi cable car to the start point. Finally, we’ll pass by the mirror-like waters of Lago Nambino before returning to the hotel.
Option 1 - Five Lakes from Madonna di Campiglio
Distance: 5½ miles (9 km)
Total ascent: 1475ft (450m)
Total descent: 2650ft (800m)
We’ll take the cable car and visit Lago Ritorto, Lago Lambin, Lago Serodoli and admire the adjacent Lago Gelato at the foot of Passo di Nambrone. It’s then on to Lago Nambino before returning on foot to Madonna di Campiglio.
Option 2 - Five Lakes on foot
Distance: 8 miles (13 km)
Total ascent: 2650 ft (800m)
This option takes a longer route to the lakes by starting out on foot. We’ll also visit Lago Ritorto, Lago Lambin, Lago Serodoli and admire the adjacent Lago Gelato at the foot of Passo di Nambrone. It’s then on to Lago Nambino before returning on foot to Madonna di Campiglio.
Discover the captivating Il Lago Nero nestled in the wild Nambrone valley. We’ll enjoy incredible views of the Presanella massif and the jagged limestone peaks of the Brenta Dolomites before making our way to the Segantini mountain refuge – an unspoiled spot that’s remained relatively unknown, despite being in a region that’s enormously popular with walkers and tourists.
Option 1 - Cornisello Lakes Circular
Distance: 5 miles (8km)
Total ascent: 500 ft (150m)
Hike along a huge valley bottom where a cluster of small but beautiful lakes are framed by the stunning Presanella massif and the Brenta Dolomites.
Option 2 - Il Lago Nero
Distance: 7 miles (11 km)
Total ascent: 1500 ft (450m)
Il Lago Nero is located in the Nambrone valley. This walk takes you over Bochetta dell'Amola and then onto Rifugio Segantini where you will be able to enjoy amazing views of the Presanella massif and the jagged limestone peaks of the Brenta Dolomites.
Return to the airport for your flight home.
