Walking with Sightseeing Holidays

WALKING WITH SIGHTSEEING

See more of a place by combining guided walks with its best-known sights. Our Walking with Sightseeing holidays follow one set itinerary each day, walking through the landscape and discovering the landmarks, gardens, towns, and wildlife that give each destination its character. The walking and the sightseeing are planned together, so you cover the ground on foot where it's rewarding and travel by coach or local transport where it makes sense.

Each holiday is set at a single walking grade, so you can see at a glance whether it suits you before you book. Rather than choosing between routes each day, everyone walks the same way, which makes these an easy holiday to travel on with a friend or partner of similar pace, and a relaxed way to see a new place without planning a thing.

UK Walking with Sightseeing holidays

Our UK Walking with Sightseeing holidays run as short breaks from our country houses, pairing shorter walks with the sights nearby. You'll find them in the Cotswolds, the South Downs, Cornwall, Northumberland, the North York Moors, the Brecon Beacons, and the Scottish Highlands, among others. A morning on foot might lead to an afternoon at a National Trust garden, a heritage railway, a castle, or a harbour town, with your leader and a coach handling the travel in between. Days are built around the place rather than the mileage, so there's time to look around, learn the history, and stop where it's worth stopping.

Walking and sightseeing holidays in Europe and beyond

Our overseas holidays travel more widely, moving through a region over a week or more and staying in several places along the way. You might walk in national parks and mountains one day and spend the next exploring old towns, taking a boat trip, or visiting living museums and wildlife reserves, all with expert local leaders who know the ground and a tour manager keeping everything running. The walking varies from holiday to holiday, so the single grade and the daily distances on each itinerary are the place to check what to expect.

The amount of walking and sightseeing varies between holidays. Each itinerary shows the walking grade and daily distances, and the team is happy to talk through which holiday is the right fit.
