BOARD GAMES AND GOOD COMPANY, WITH WALKS FROM AN HF COUNTRY HOUSE
A board game break is a few easy days of games and good company at one of our country houses. There's a wide selection of games to borrow, from the familiar favourites to something you've never tried, and you're welcome to bring your own along too. An HF Host is on hand to get a table going and make the introductions, and after that the pace is entirely yours.
Play a quick round after dinner, settle in for a long afternoon, or take yourself off for a walk and come back for the evening games.
However you like to play
The whole point of these breaks is that there's no set programme to keep up with.
Some guests play morning, noon and night; others spend the days out walking the countryside around the house and save the games for the evening. With self-guided walks on the doorstep and maps and routes at the house to point you on your way, the afternoons are yours to fill as you please.
Come evening, the games come out, and the company makes the rest. You'll find everyone from seasoned strategists to people who haven't played in years, all there for the same easy mix of playing and good conversation.
A country house to play in
The house is half the pleasure of a board games break. Our country houses sit in some of the finest countryside in Britain, with comfortable lounges and quiet corners to set up a game, a bar to fetch a drink from, and log fires in the cooler months.
The days are yours to play or walk as you please, with a cooked breakfast to start, a packed lunch if you're heading out, and a three-course dinner before the evening's games. It's the kind of place where a quick round after dinner can turn into a whole sociable evening without anyone noticing the time.
