Spending Christmas and New Year with HF Holidays can mean a country house with a roaring a fire and a houseful of company, or guided walking in sunny southern Europe. Either way the season is taken care of, from the warm welcome on arrival to the celebration dinner.
At our UK country houses you can spend the days walking, guided or self-guided, or settle into a break built around visiting Christmas markets, crafting decorations, or singing carols. Further afield, our winter walking holidays head to the sunshine of southern Europe, with local guides who know the trails. Either way, our festive breaks and holidays are guaranteed to make it a most wonderful time of year.
Festive breaks at our country houses
Most festive breaks happen at our HF Country Houses in walking country from the Scottish Highlands to the Cornish coast. You can join guided walks each day with an HF Leader, set your own pace using the maps at the Discovery Point, or mix the two across a few days away. Our festive holidays run throughout the season, from early December to right across Christmas and the New Year, with both guided and self-guided breaks to choose from.
Full-board is included in every HF Country House stay: a cooked and continental breakfast every morning, a generous packed lunch, and a three-course dinner each evening selected from a seasonally themed menu. The closer to Christmas, the more the season shows at the table, with a mulled wine reception to begin your festive holiday, daily afternoon teas of cake and mince pies, plus a celebration dinner with all the trimmings on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. Evenings bring everyone together over games, quizzes and good company.
Festive special interest breaks
If you would rather your festive break had a theme, our country houses run Special Interest holidays built around one. Spend a day visiting some of Britain's best Christmas markets, make seasonal decorations on a craft weekend, enjoy a Christmas singing break, or see in the New Year over a few hands of bridge. Each is a full HF Country House stay with the same festive food offering and welcome, so the season works just as well whether you walk or not.
