At HF Holidays, we believe travel should be a force for good. Not just for the environment but for the people and communities in the places we travel to. As a B Corp Certified business, we’re committed to ethical, sustainable practices that make every journey meaningful.
When you choose to holiday with us, you’re not just booking a trip – you’re supporting sustainable travel and community-focused initiatives that create a lasting, positive impact.
Here are just a few examples of how your holiday can help make a real difference.
Discover More in the UK: Local & unique
New for 2025, our Discover More Tours go off-the-beaten track to find the UK’s best-kept secrets - places not usually possible as part of a larger party.
These exclusive small-group tours go beyond simple sightseeing - they’re about connecting with the essence of each destination, uncovering stories that often go untold, and sharing extraordinary experiences with local people keeping landscapes and traditions alive.

Southern Lake District: Upholding Traditions
Guests on our Southern Lake District Discover More Tour get an up-close experience with the iconic Herdwick sheep, an integral part of the Lake District’s culture and heritage. You’ll learn about the breed’s historical significance, its ties to famous figures like Beatrix Potter, and how its wool continues to support the local economy. There’s also the chance to meet the friendly “Ambassador Herdwick Flock,” sheep that are known for their curious nature.
Additionally, we’ll visit Stott Park Bobbin Mill, a rare, fully operational bobbin mill that played a crucial role in the Industrial Revolution. This hands-on experience offers insight into traditional craftsmanship, with demonstrations of the machinery used to produce wooden bobbins that were once vital to the region’s textile industry.

Exmoor: Regenerating Ecosystems and Supporting Wildlife
When you join the Exmoor Discover More Tour, explore Higher Barn Farm, an eco-friendly farm focused on regenerative agriculture. This farm is supported by the With the Wild CIC initiative, which aims to create a community market garden. Not only does the farm provide locally-grown food, but it also serves as a learning hub for locals and farmers to engage in sustainable farming practices.
The tour also includes a visit to the Exmoor Pony Centre, where you’ll learn about the conservation efforts of the Moorland Mousie Trust. This charity is dedicated to protecting the rare breed of Exmoor ponies, rescuing foals, and providing lifelong care for them. Our visit supports the centre’s ongoing work in welfare, education, and advocacy for these special animals.
Western Yorkshire Dales: Sustainable Weaving with Local Wool
Our Western Yorkshire Dales Discover More Tour is helping support the British wool industry. During the trip we’ll visit Laura’s Loom, a weaving business that sources wool from local farms in the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria. This experience delves into the artistry of British textiles, highlighting how sustainable practices and traditional skills are used to create beautiful, fully traceable fabrics. By supporting small businesses like Laura’s Loom, we’re helping preserve the region’s rich cultural heritage while promoting the sustainable use of local resources.
Making a World of Difference: Giving back Globally
Our commitment to supporting local communities extends beyond our home base in the UK. We work closely with our overseas partners to provide guests with unique experiences that promote economic prosperity for local people whilst creating memorable moments that resonate long after the journey ends.

India: Improving Local Life
One of our newest adventures, the Tea Trails & Backwaters of Kerala holiday, offers more than just scenic landscapes and exciting treks. As part of the Community-Based Responsible Tourism project, this experience ensures local communities benefit directly from tourism. Guests visit the village of Poothotta, where a local guide introduces you to traditional crafts like coir making, followed by a home-cooked meal with a local family. These activities are hosted and owned by the community, empowering locals to sustain their way of life through responsible tourism.

Peru: Empowering Through Education
Our On The Trail of the Incas tour in Peru goes beyond iconic sites like Machu Picchu by integrating a visit to Chicuchas Wasi, a project that provides education to young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds in Cusco. By supporting this initiative, we help foster educational opportunities in a region where resources are limited. On top of that, the emissions from all travel within the country are offset into a carbon sink in the Manu Biosphere Reserve. And for every day of your trip, two trees per guest are planted as part of a reforestation effort in the Lares area, co-ordinated by ECOAN. Travel here not only enriches your cultural understanding but contributes to long-term environmental sustainability.

Guatemala: Food that Feeds Real Change
During our Guatemala: Maya Ruins & Volcano Trails holiday, there’s a unique opportunity to participate in a cooking class led by the San Antonio Women’s Co-op in San Antonio Aguascalientes. This co-operative, formed by nine Mayan women, allows them to earn an income, learn new skills, and preserve their cultural heritage. As part of this experience, you’ll cook a traditional meal using knowledge passed down from generation to generation, supporting their efforts to build a stronger, more resilient community.
Travel That Makes a Difference
When you travel with HF Holidays, your journey makes a real difference – one that extends beyond the trails and into people’s everyday lives. Your holiday helps support community-led initiatives, preserve natural landscapes, and encourage sustainable tourism practices that will reshape the travel industry one step at a time.

Since 1998, our Pathways Fund has been providing funding for the repair and maintenance of footpaths, stiles, and conservation projects. The fund also offers assisted holidays to individuals or families facing financial difficulties, enabling them to discover the joys of the great outdoors.
Whether it’s offering assisted holidays or protecting and preserving popular footpaths, the initiatives our Pathways Fund helps support is a huge step towards making the countryside accessible to all. Find out more here.
